Ronald Peter Bloetjes

          We are very sad to announce that Ron passed away suddenly at the age of 60.  With all that Ron had faced in the past year we believe his body was tired, and his heart knew it was time to rest.  He will be greatly missed by his wife and best friend Karen-Ann Deelstra and his step-daughter “M”, Emily Deelstra.

          We all knew Ron for his genuine, hearty, booming laugh that let you know he was somewhere nearby.  No matter where he was, it was always lively conversation and he never skipped a beat when it came to his one liners and sometimes inappropriate jokes.

          He leaves behind brothers John (Liz), Mike (Jackie), Ed (Lesley), sister “L” Mary Ellen Garner, and sister-in-law Chris Bloetjes.  Ron was the fun uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews.  He had a special bond with his nephews Kevin and Randy Bloetjes, spending hours visiting and working in the shop.  Snuggles and naptime with Ron will be missed by his “hounddog” Axel and cats Beatrice and Wiser.  Ron will also be fondly remembered by Karen-Ann's family.  Predeceased by his parents Case and Corrie Bloetjes, brother Steve, and brother-in-law Wayne Garner.

          Ron was a plumber for over 35 years making long lasting connections and friendships wherever he went, and never hesitated to help anybody who needed it.  Ron was well known and had many friends and neighbours who thought of him as family.

          Special thank you to Dr. MacNeil, Dr. Lovell and their teams, and Marilyn his trauma nurse, as well as all of the other doctors and nurses who provided amazing care at LHSC.  Thank you also to St. Elizabeth Healthcare, and his nurse Sharon for their wonderful supportive care in the home.  The quick response from Oxford EMS, OPP, and Volunteer Firefighters on August 1, 2024 and July 14, 2025 will forever be appreciated by the family.

          Cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday August 8, 2025, from 1 to 6 p.m., at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 513, 1227 Donnybrook Drive, Dorchester, Ontario.  In lieu of flowers please consider making a memorial donation to London Health Sciences Foundation in support of research for the Head and Neck department at LHSC. LHSC Head and Neck Dept. 

          May you always remember Ron's larger than life personality and unforgettable laugh, and keep him in your memories.  As Ron would always say...“I laughed, I cried, it became a part of me”.
