Sandra Jean Wheeler Allen

Sandra passed away peacefully Friday January 28, 2022 at VON Sakura House Hospice in Woodstock Ontario at age 76 following a lengthy illness. Previously deceased by parents Carl and Myrta Wheeler, brother Larry and son Jimmy. Loving Momma of Michael, Charles, Jerry and Majory and stepson Christopher. Sadly, missed by husband Philip. Fondly remembered by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren in USA and Canada.

A dual citizen and a proud Canadian, Sandra was an ancestral cousin of George Washington, first President of the United States of America. Born in Andrews North Carolina and raised in Alabama, it goes without saying, she was a true Southern Belle and her Southern drawl gave away her beginnings in life. Sandra lived life fully until her devastating and severe stroke in 2016. She had a particular love for animals of all kinds throughout her active life and needless to say had a story about each of the many pets she had. Sandra was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star (OES) Khaki Chapter (Woodstock) and a past member of the Oxford County Disability Advisory Board and branch 55 Royal Canadian Legion and the Harley Owners Group (HOG). She was an active volunteer in a number of Women's Shelters during her life and a strong community supporter. She is most recently remembered for her involvement in the Embro Highland Games Classic British Car Show.

Special thanks to the Sakura House Hospice, the doctors of the Palliative Care Unit, Woodstock Hospital, the many visiting PSW's and nurses, the Oxford County EMS Palliative outreach team and Renee from Sakura House Hospice who spent so many caring hours with Sandra.

Sandra has already been cremated and her wishes are for a memorial to be held at a later date in Alabama where she was raised and had so many happy memories. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Sakura House Hospice or a local a Women's Shelter of choice.
