Stanley "Mike" Moore

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Stanley Michael (Mike) Moore in his 79^th year, peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday May 11, 2021.   Devoted spouse of Devereux Hersee and loving Father of Wendy Adams, Jeff McCreary, and Ashley Hersee (John).  Mike was an extremely proud Grandfather to Jeremy and James, and known as Uncle Mike to many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. 

Mike is survived by his siblings, Brian of PEI, Lucy (Tom) of Innerkip and Steve of Maryland.  Predeceased by his parents Stan and Connie Moore.

Mike had a passion for woodworking, antique tractors and bird watching.  If he wasn’t in the Tim Horton’s drive thru, he could be found in his wood shop talking to the dogs in his special voice.  His daily uniform was blue jeans, a plaid shirt and a ball cap, and is fondly remembered for his unfiltered stories and off coloured jokes.

Mike had a work ethic that made his Dad proud and he had a knack for drafting solutions on the inside of cigarette package while on a job site.   He started his career as a young man in 1966 with Pre-Con and retired from his sole employer after 34 years of hard work and dedication as a Project Manager.   He was most proud of his exemplary driving skills and often purported that he has “backed up more miles than most people have driven ahead”

The family would like to say a special thank you for the exceptional care Mike received at People Care Tavistock.  Thank you to the Nursing and Recreational staff for seeing Mike as a person and not a patient, and for embracing his fun and flirtatious personality.  Your care and support of Mike is greatly appreciated.

Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be scheduled for a later date.  In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted in his honour at the Alzheimer’s Society and The Thunder Cape Bird Observatory
