"INTO HIS SAVIOUR"S LOVING ARMS"

It is with much sadness that the family of Ted Gilbert (Gilbutowicz) announce his passing on Tuesday May 21, 2024.

Born in Bonn Germany on December 13, 1945, Ted was predeceased by his parents Stanislaw and Stafania Gilbutowicz (Davidko).

Beloved husband of 59 years, Carolyn Irene Gilbert (nee Howard).  Cherished Father of Scott and Stacey Gilbert, Sheri and Rick Rogers and Lisa and Patrick Sloan all of Woodstock.  Proud Grandfather to 10 grandchildren: Natasha Gilbert (Brad Currah), Sierra and Brad Wentzell, Shelby and Eddie Skinner, Amberly Rutherford (Tyler), David Gilbert, Deanna Gilbert (Paul), Jorden Gilbert, Megean Gilbert (Scott), Ryan Sloan (Ashley Medeiros), Leahm Sloan and 4 great- grandchildren: Meilah Grant and Damiyen Grant, Sutton Wentzell and Hollan Wentzell.

Ted is survived by his sister Wanda (Dan) Golobic, and brother Stanley Gilbutowicz.   He will be missed greatly by his sisters and brothers-in-law: Flo and Rudy, Eve, Kathy, and Janis.  Remembered fondly by his many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his in-laws Harold and Madeline Howard, sisters-in-law Wendy, and Ruth (Darcy) Kew, and brothers-in-law Percy, Gordie, Oli and Don.

Ted wore many hats in his work life, Harvey Woods, Faulkner Market, Thomas Built Buses, Fisher Control, Boys Electric and 30+ years with Thames Valley School Board as Custodian at Springbank School.

A man of Faith, he will be missed by many including his closest friend John Droog and the Wednesday night zoom Bible study men - Larry, Martin, Gary, Eric and Tom - at Tavistock Bible Chapel.

His love of nature took him camping in Algonquin Park each year where he went canoeing, kayaking and fishing with his children and grandchildren.

Wildlife photography and hanging with his faithful companion Waffles were a regular part of his summer activities.

In his younger years his passion for playing industrial ball, coaching hockey, and playing high school football carried on when cheering on his grandchildren at hockey, lacrosse, ringette and soccer.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Vu and all the incredible Staff at Woodstock Hospital for their support in keeping him comfortable during his final days.

At his request, cremation has taken place. Donations in Ted's name to The Friends of Algonquin Park or Canadian Cancer Society are appreciated.
