Walter Baird

Walter Baird, born on the 27th day of April, 1944 in Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland, passed away shortly after midnight on the 8th day of October, 2020 in Woodstock, Ontario in his 76th year. 

Walter married the love of his life on the 12th day of March, 1966 in Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland with whom he then migrated with, almost immediately afterwards, to Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Both Walter and Helen looked forward to the excitement of starting their lives together and growing their family in Canada so many years ago.

A great artist and lover of everything football, one of his greatest passions was spending time with his friends and family and making all the wee ones laugh. His laughter was one of a kind and his zest for life was contagious. Always up for a good song and dance and known far and wide for his kindness and generosity towards anyone who crossed his path.

Predeceased by his mother Mary (Burnhope) Baird and father Walter Baird, his beloved wife Helen (Smith) Baird, his nephew Wally Muir, his twin brother Jimmy Baird, his brother in law Edward Curwood and his eldest sister Betty (Baird) Muir respectively.

Walter's spirit and life will continue to live on in the family and friends he leaves behind. Walter is survived by his daughter Kirsty (Baird) Stark and his son in law William Stark and their two children, Walter's grandchildren, Mykenzie and Kameron Stark. His son Russell Baird and his two children, Walter's grandchildren, Drake and Drew Baird. Walter's sister Anne (Baird) Curwood and her children, his niece Aileen (Curwood) Hodder and family and nephew Cameron Curwood and family as well as Betty's children, Walter's nephew's and their families, Jim Muir and Clark Muir.

The family will be planning a celebration of Walter's life in the weeks to come for immediate family only due to Covid-19 restrictions.
