It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wavell Winston ‘Harry’ Harrison on Friday June 9, 2023, after a long and hard battle with Parkinson disease. He was 81 years young. A beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Harry was born to J. Russell and Marietta (Volz) Harrison in Sarnia, Ontario on July 6, 1941.
He will be forever remembered by his sons Gordon Russell and Ronald Duane; sister-in-law Evelyn Harrison; niece Gloria (Bill) Crocker and Laura Crocker; nephew Russ (Charlene) Harrison and his nine grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents Russ and Marietta Harrison; brother Thomas Edmund ‘Ted’ Harrison and his wife Edith. Family was very important to him.
Wavell was raised in Sarnia Ontario until he joined the military, Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) at 17 years old as a leading aircraftsman. He spent 7 years in the Air Force in Cold Lake, Alberta and it is also where he met and married his wife, Edith. Harry then started a second career in the Construction Field. He worked with TONDA Construction for 40 years and worked in Saskatoon, Edmonton, and London. He was a Foreman, and was responsible for many crews at a time. One of his highlights of his career was the Victoria Hospital build in London. He retired due to early stages of Parkinson disease at the age of 65.
He volunteered with many charitable organizations. He was a member of the Lions Club, the Shriners, and the Legion.
Sincere thanks and appreciation to the Staff at Parkwood (Veterans care) Nursing Home in London, Ontario where he resided the last couple of years. Want to especially thank Social Workers Laura and Erica for going above and beyond with their care and compassion.
All of the Staff were so caring and wonderful and he was so loved by everyone….and he loved them too.
As per his wishes, no formal funeral will be held.  Cremation will take place and a private family gathering and interment will be held at a later date.  His final resting place will be with his brother Thomas Edmund ‘Ted’ Harrison in Husavik Cemetery Vidines Cemetery (RM of Gimli) Manitoba.
Harry will be forever loved and missed.
