It is with great sadness that the family announce the passing of Barry Fitzpatrick. He will be deeply missed by his wife of 62 years, Nancy, children Colleen, Karen (Nicole) and Tom (Jennie), beloved godson Geoff Watts, and many wonderful nieces and nephews. Barry was graciously welcomed into the Tickner family in 1963; through them, Barry gained a loving extended family that he truly cherished. Barry was predeceased by his father Bill, mother Mary ‘Mae’ (nee Hannon), and brother Wayne.
He was born and raised in Tillsonburg, and for almost 40 years Barry was known to many as the Union Gas Man. When not working, Barry was a Renaissance Man of sorts. For decades he was involved in the Boy Scouts helping to build Camp Jackson. He was a founding member of the Ontario Outdoors club. Barry was an avid golfer, fisherman, hunter, and handy man. He was famous for his dancing blue eyes, and his legendary fish fry’s. His legacy lives on through many paintings that he lovingly made for so many.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Chowdhury, Dr. Sohal, and the incredible Staff of Maple Manor where Barry made his home for the last 4 years. Your kindness and compassion provided us with comfort in his final years.
Cremation has taken place, and a celebration of life will be planned at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests your consideration of a memorial donation to the Tillsonburg District Memorial Hospital Foundation, or to St. Paul's United Church, Tillsonburg
